    • Typical session begins with each party making an opening statement

    • Mediator summarizes each in turn

    • Mediator identifies common ground and identifies issues

    • Mediator will set an agenda 

    • Depending on the issue and where the parties are at emotionally, the time it takes to reach resolution varies

    • Sessions range anywhere from 2 to 8 hours
